CCB when did you realize pet homes were best???

It was apparent early on dating back to our first litters.  You will see that very few of our dogs went to kennels.  And it wasn't because there wasn't a demand.  I have e-mails from some of the biggest breeders in the history of the breed asking for stock.

The american bulldog is basically a bandog.  There is a great variation in type within the breed.  Just own and feed what you like and it doesn't matter what anyone else does.

I never gave thought to breeding loosely or on phenotype alone.  But after reading about ME's results from his last litter I think it might not be a bad thing.  I think that leaving some things in the woodpile and not expressing them may be better..........................

I guess you agree with me, or you don't?  In this breed, especially the lines we are dealing with 120lb dogs are very rare.  So how does it happen when you inbreed?  How far back do you have to go behind these dogs to find a 120lber?  Tyson?  That is what the ped says........................if you believe it.  I know what one liar says..............but is he more credible than the other liar?  Which liar do you believe?  To me it doesn't matter.  I will just enjoy the dogs and try to make better ones!

If PM's hips were good we would have heard about those scores.  The fact that James won't put them out there publicly tells me all I need to know.  Funny that he was proclaiming that he would post the results regardless if they were good or bad.  Well, he lied.........................

Sorry Mask, I tried to respond to your post and ended up adding it to your post with the moderator controls.  I restored it to the orginal and copy and pasted my reply here.

We are all at the mercy of the breeders before us.  All we can do is get some foundation stock, and try to make better dogs.  I didn't do it alone.  But I have worked with people who like goals and ideas and I can say that the dogs I am messing with currently are better than the dogs we started with.

What I find interesting is Woolly Bully X Black Cherry.  Woolly was out of Pete X Venus.  Pete being 90lb pig fat, Venus being 75lb.  Woolly was 95lb, Black Cherry 65lb.  Now let's take a look at Reka, what did Reka weigh?  My guess would be about 75lb.  Reka was bred to Redbull.  When I saw Redbull he was probably 100lb.  That produced Bouncer who was a legit 120lb.  How did that happen?  Redbull was Pete X Dani?  How much did Dani weigh?

Now Bouncer was bred back to his mother, inbred Reka.  That produced Milkman etc.  How big was Milkman?  Milkman was then bred back to Redbull's sister Bookie.  That was an extremely tight breeding.  An inbred male bred back to his sire's littermate sister.  That produced Bedrock's Red.  How big is Red?  From what I am told, Red is also 115-120lb.  How did crunching Dailey blood produce this massive size?  I have extensive knowledge, and have been one of the few to have seen Dailey's yard, and several breedings off his yard.  Never has he produced 100lb plus males the entire time I was around.  So how could you inbreed on this blood and get more size?  Things that make you go hmmm!!  You see, things aren't always what they seem.  And that can be said for all of our dogs.  If you search in the history of the board, you might find some clues as to why those dogs are the size they are.

I happen to like these dogs, and I know that Bruce and Lou have bred them as stated.  But as I said, some things make sense and some don't.  All we can do is try and navigate the g

I know my dogs for generations.  We are looking at BMJ's Great, great, great grand kids!!  Dogs that have been tested every generation, cleaned up in the show ring every generation, and have the ability to work.  Now you can go by what someone says, or you can go by RESULTS!!  RESULTS are what we have..............

Doesn't sound like a swimmer pup.  Most times swimmers have difficulty getting their front legs under them.  You also won't see swimmer pups do anything but lay on their stomach, hence the flattened chest.  They won't feed laying on their sides etc.

A quick question, what is sas?

Great looking pup.  He look to have great rear angulation.  I had a pup that took longer to get up and was a swimmer.  He had all the signs ie. flattened chest etc.  I recognized it early and had him up about a week or so after his littermates.  He went on to have nice conformation, wasn't limited physically but had hips in the .6's.  Don't know if it had anything to do with being a swimmer or not.

Something is always better than nothing!  My dogs have beat dogs with Fr. Ring titles, SCH. Titles etc.  Does it mean my dogs were better AB's?  No, but they competed and won!  While it is not the end all be all it is an entry level working venue!  It is still better than sitting on the sidelines talking Shizzy or saying your dog coulda woulda!

Gil, do you seriously believe that Shizzy that spews from your mouth?  I haven't kept pups from my litters LOL??  Are you serious, do you believe that?  Mojo has never beaten a dog of merit.  And Mojo gets beat by 20, 30, 40lb dogs..................................Shut up GIL!!  Your dog competes, he is not COMPETITIVE!!  There is a big difference!!  Post the results of the pulls he has competed at from the APA Website!!

You have been to 5 APA Pulls and you have 15 points LOL!  That means you had no competition, and your dogs sucks!!  You beat no one!!

Mojo is not a competitive dog.  There is a difference between competing, and being competitive.  Mojo is good at losing.  As he doesn't even have a WP III title.  Gil mentions a bunch of dogs above.  And he has never beaten one of them.  He has not even come close!  Those dogs pulled TWICE as much as Mojo.  Again, that is not holding your own or being competitive.  That is straight up LOSING!!  And Mojo is really good at it!!

i don't believe azlan threw solid black dogs .......show me a solid black dog off azlan and i'm betting i can show you the pitbull the solid black came from , except in bh's case ......

Aspen Rare used Azlan for color and because he was a great working dog... Vito added the bitch from aspen rare... They don't hide the infusion... Azlan is considered a composite bulldog with possibly no American Bulldog lineage...

Was just talking to Taz's owner a couple of weeks back.  He was Bullistic X Dyna.  He is still alive and kicking at 12 years old or so.  He was bred to a female named Redmanshire's Sue, a white and fawn pied female.  In this litter he produced several heavy colored dogs.  But I have a hard time believing his ped too.  Dyna was pretty bully.  Azlan dogs were pretty bully, but Bullistic X Dyna was not.  Taz X Sue was not.  I don't believe anything........................................

We know the original Twiggy was a greyhound.

Bonzi?  Hahahaha!  Let me just take a "guess" that will leave puppy mountain wondering......how in the hell?

I'm going to "guess" that Bonzi was a larger than normal, extremely nice structured Staffy Bull.....that was first seen when its owner had him at a show in St. Louis just hanging out watching the event.  BOOM!

There was a couple of infamous MO breeders who were quite smitten.

I have heard that story too LOL!!  But I am not able to claim it 100% like the Fury, Twiggy, and Crystal stories!!  But once a paper hanger..........................always a paper hanger.

I saw Tyson back in the day, and he looked like a "pure" AB to me. Not sure if he was actually Gator x Doozy, but they threw huge dogs...by far the most impressive looking large AB I've ever seen. I'd take a yard full of Tysons, great temperament too. Eddie Eddington hung the papers on Whopper....DTB 2 x DDB...120 lbs. His hung ped is on APBTonline pedigrees. Chevy was his son, and was the strongest dog in the world.... 106 lbs.1/2 APBT, 1/4 AB, 1/4 DDB. Best weight pull line ever, but not pure APBT. -Jim.... ps - Should Troy go back and put GH in his peds? What else in his peds needs fixin' ????

According to one of his owner Jose, he took Tyson to the vet and looked at the Breed Chart on the wall.  He though Tyson looked just like a short haired St. Bernard.  But he said he had EB type.  He had traits not necessarily consistent with the AB in regards to his feet, coat, hide etc.  I really don't care how he is bred, how is ped reads, NOTHING!!  I just say where there is smoke, there usually is fire!!

There is a reason that these big dogs didn't reproduce themselves.  They weren't the norm, they were the anomaly!!

Here is another one of those big dogs.......................Do you think his ped is correct??
